Featuring: Gareth Lockrane – Flutes / Alex Garnett – Saxophone / Ross Stanley – Hammond Organ

“The formidable Lockrane…a stunning display of sharp-accented runs, earthy whoops and constantly refreshed melodic ideas.” – The Guardian

Flautist and composer Gareth Lockrane started playing at the age of 10, discovering jazz at 14 after having raided his dad’s record collection.

Today he’s one of the UK’s premier jazz flautist’s, a prolific and versatile musician who makes regular sideman appearances as well as leading his own small groups plus his acclaimed contemporary big band.

As the band name suggests Grooveyard’s music is swinging and unpretentious with its roots in Blue Note era hard bop, soul jazz and funk, a wideranging compositional palette that reflects Lockrane’s work as a film and television composer.
