We were recently delighted to work in partnership with Turtle Key Arts : Turtle Song.
The organisation provides free of charge singing and performance opportunities to those living with dementia. For 9 weeks, a new group of people and their carers have been composing, song writing and working with Project Leader Jess and local composer, Michael Betteridge, to create a set of 4 engaging songs based around the theme Winter. Chetham’s students have worked alongside the participants in their workshops and accompanied the singers in this exciting project, singing and playing along with them and being part of the songwriting process.

“Each of our 4 songs have been conceived by working together as an ensemble and each one required different skills and techniques to create. Sometimes songs came from our own histories, other times we re-imagined the words of poets or dreamt up our own future.” – Turtle Song.
